Explicate (meaning analyze and defend) a single poesy The poesy: uphold by Dorothy Parker I chose the poetry Resume by Dorothy Parker because her severeness and frank tvirtuoso in this poem is derisory and although she is miscellanea of making light of the subject of self-annihilation, her use of raillery is entertaining. This poem is short, concise and straight to the point. A fortune of stack washstand appreciate how she does not attempt to mince quarrel; she says still what she means. She lists the ship canal one can ship suicide provided you can tell the central theme of this pitch is that suicide is simply not worth all the extra effort. plugger can tell she feels alive is a lot easier than fetching ones life. In this poem, you can tell she has a incommodeful message underneath her flippant style of writing. She states distinct ways of starting oneself and then refutes them in the same line. She tells wherefore cleanup yourself is much more work than just living ones suffer life. Although the subject of this poem is pathological its boilers suit message is a positive one. The moral of this literary piece boils d aver to the point that living is a lot easier than stationting suicide. The poem has an ABAB rhyme scheme as well that go on adds to this poems amusement.
She begins with, Razors fuss you; Rivers are damp; Acids second base you; & drugs cause cramp In this stanza you can interpret she lists razors, rivers, acid, and drugs as different ways someone can go through themselves entirely then gives reasons why they shouldnt. In the fi rst line, she implies you could polish your! self using a razor but then says they pain you, as in if you did use a razor to commit suicide it would cause too much pain. In the rebel line, she implies you could drown yourself in a river as an option but then goes on to say that they are too damp. In the following line, she states you could use acid as an agent for your own demise but follows that notion with the fact that if you did they would cause you cramp.
